1216 Cadet Passes Junior Leaders Selection - September 2010

Cdt Sgt M Ingram has just returned from selection for what is regarded as one of the toughest courses available within the Corps; Junior Leaders. Over the course off the weekend he had to take part in a wide range of tests that would determine his suitability for the course, these tests included leadership and fitness and in addition he had an interview with a Wing Commander stationed at Headquarters Air Cadets. On learning that he had successfully passed the selection process, he was issued with a variety of kit that he would be using for the duration of the course.

"This is one the proudest moments of my cadet career, to be selected for this course shows that staff both back on my Squadron and on the course feel that I have leadership potential. I intend to make the most of my time on the course and even if I am unable to complete it, I shall take the knowledge that I learn back with me to my Squadron. The most challenging part of the weekend was returning from Beckingham Camp with all of my issued kit as well as my personal kit; it made for a very interesting experience travelling across London." - Sgt M Ingram

The course lasts for a total 8 weekends and concludes with a 10 day test phase. During the course leadership skills are taught, alongside basic Fieldcraft & Military Skills Training. On completion of the course providing the required project work is completed an Institute of Leadership & Management level 2 is achieved.
